Dror For Target
Dror for Target Biography
New York City-based designer Dror Benshetrit founded his multi-disciplinary firm, Dror, in 2002, and has been at the forefront of contemporary design ever since. Dror’s ability to transform poetry into function is woven throughout all of his work, from product and graphic design to residential and commercial architecture and art direction.
Driven by logic and process, Dror’s creations reflect a certain mode of living and well-being given greater definition and refinement by his industrial design. While focusing on innovation in materials, technologies and geometries, he thrives on uncovering the origins of movement. His mission is to create works that are transformative, both literally and metaphorically.
In June, 2009, Target® and Dror will launch Dror™ for Target®, an exclusive, limited-edition collection of innovative home design and stationery products. The line features an array of products, from vibrant comforters and sheets to stylish desk accessories and dynamic lighting. The compelling collection of multi-functional products is ideal for city dwellers, college students or anyone looking to maximize small spaces on a tight budget.
The people, projects and products of Dror have been hailed by design institutions, the media and blue-chip brands, as being intuitive and imbued with a sense of wit and humor. His work is included in several permanent museum collections and has been lauded with a handful of awards. Dror’s client list includes Rosenthal (Germany), Boffi, Bentley, BBB Emmebonacina, Levi’s, Skins Footwear, Yigal Azrouël, Material Connexion, Grand Prix, Bombay Sapphire, Maya Romanoff, Surface Magazine, Kiehl’s, Bourjois, Marithe + Francois Girbaud, Shvo and Swarovski.
The Tel Aviv native graduated from the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven, the Netherlands university that has trained design luminaries such as Tord Boontje, Marcel Wanders and Hella Jongerius. His rigorous art and design education entices Dror to cultivate originality in each project he adopts.
