Sorenson Posts 31st Place Finish at Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen, N.Y. (August 10, 2008) – Reed Sorenson, driver of the No. 41 Target Dodge, finished 31st at Watkins Glen International on Sunday afternoon. In an eventful race, Sorenson was running on the lead lap as the checkered flag waved despite being involved in a multi-car accident on lap 82. The No. 41 Target team moved to 29th in the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Owner point standings.

Due to rain on Friday, the grid for Sunday’s race was set by owner points, starting Sorenson in the 30th spot. The first half of the race saw Sorenson running consistently with the field. While battling handling issues, the team made air pressure adjustments on his first two pit stops. On lap 65, during the second caution of the race, Sorenson scored the Lucky Dog award and joined the field on the lead lap. It was on lap 82 when Sorenson was collected in a spectacular, multi-car accident on the front stretch. Sorenson’s car did not experience race-ending damage.

NASCAR displayed the red flag, halting the race to clean up the nine-car accident, which lasted 43 minutes. When the yellow flag was displayed, the No.41 team came to pit road twice to fix the right-front damage of the Dodge. Sorenson went on to finish the race in the 31st position.

The CGRFS team moved to 29th in the NSCS owner point standings with a total of 1,785 points, 285 points out of 25th. Sorenson also moved to 30th in the championship driver standings, with a total of 1,736 points.

Next up for the team is the 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. ET with LIVE coverage on ESPN at 1 p.m. ET.
