Target and team owner Chip Ganassi began their racing partnership in 1990 with the creation of a one-car IndyCar team. Since then, the Target IndyCar team has amassed five championship titles and 58 wins. The duo of Scott Dixon and Dan Wheldon will represent once again Team Target on the track in 2008.

Dixon will trade his red Target bulls-eye apparel for a blue and black Energizer firesuit and paint scheme. Dixon won in an Energizer donned car at Nashville Speedway last year as he entered the race in second place in the championship points standings trailing eventual IndyCar Championship winner Dario Franchitti by 47 points. Roles are reversed this year as the Kiwi arrives at Nashville with a 48-mark lead in the championship over Helio Castroneves.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing Texas Motor Speedway Advance Notes
Dixon visited professional Olympic track star Michael Johnson's Performance Center in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, becoming the first race car driver to participate in a fitness evaluation at the famed institute that trains existing and prospective athletes, especially football players. The Indianapolis 500 winner's experience will be shared as a feature during this weekend's Texas race broadcast on ESPN2.
