Shaun White is many things but most notably he’s driven. Charging his way through every competition he enters, Shaun holds many of the highest accolades in the world of action sports, including a gold medal from the 2006 Winter Olympics. And thanks to his continuous success as a pro-snowboarder and skateboarder, Shaun is one of the most recognized action sports athletes around the world. He was the first to win both Summer and Winter X Games gold, and the first to win consecutive gold medals in the Winter X Games SuperPipe competition in 2008 and 2009. Shaun is also the only athlete to win both Summer and Winter Dew Cups, an achievement that will be hard to match.
Shaun, a Target sponsored athlete since 2002, first began snowboarding at six years old. Boldly following his older brother Jesse off jumps, he developed his fearlessness at the very beginning. And even though he’s continually globetrotting for his sport, some of his fondest memories are freeriding with his family at Big Bear where he originally learned to ride Not surprisingly White garnered his first sponsorship just a few years into the sport, turning pro at age 13 in 1999, then going on to capture the Arctic Challenge title in 2001 for his first major win. Voted 2007’s Transworld Snowboarding’s Rider of the Year, Shaun isn’t deterred by the pressure of such a successful career, he uses it to his advantage to push himself.
In 2003 he added pro-skateboarder to his resume, becoming the first athlete ever to compete and medal in both the Summer and Winter X Games in two different sports. In 2007 Shaun set unparalleled standards winning the overall title and prestigious honor of AST Dew Cup Champion thanks to his impressive skills in skateboarding vert.
Whether in a halfpipe or on a vert ramp, this four time ESPY award winner is undoubtedly a talented athlete. Along with his athletic accomplishments Shaun is also savvy in design, debuting his original clothing line, Shaun White 4 Target, in 2008. Shaun is excited to continue creating stylish designs at a great value for boys and young men well past 2009. Shaun also debuted his video game Shaun White Snowboarding in 2008, launching an exclusive, limited time only version for Target that features elements of his partnership including the Target Chalet and Target Mountain.
When he’s not competing, Shaun enjoys playing guitar and is a true ambassador of action sports and Target through charity, frequently visiting Target House with his fellow Target team members.
