Biography
At just 21 years old Simon Dumont is one of the best freeskiers in the world. Known for breaking records and breaking bones in the process, Simon is the latest golden boy of the sport, pushing the limits every time he drops into a pipe. Looked to as a leader in this relatively new world of freeskiing, Simon used his background in gymnastics to become a thrilling and spectacular aerialist on skis. Named by Powder Magazine as one the most important faces in skiing today, he's undoubtedly a gripping sight to be seen, twisting and turning high above the crowd with every trick.
Simon began skiing competitively in 2003 placing fourth at the U.S. Open and winning the Whistler Invitational Super Hit right out of the gate. The following year he earned gold at the Winter X Games, and plenty of podium time at the Whistler Invitationals placing first in the Super Hit and second in the Big Air competition.
Since then Simon has steadily climbed to the top, consistently medaling at the Winter X Games in Superpipe, securing gold in 2005 and bronze in 2006, an enormous feat considering his season ending crash the previous year. Coming back from his damaging injuries sustained after plunging over 100 feet and overshooting a landing was undeniably tough, but it didn't stop Simon for long. Placing first in the Slopestyle at the 2006 Orage European Open in Switzerland and second at the 2007 Winter X Games, it's clear nothing can curb Simon's drive. Not even a ruptured spleen and fractured pelvis.
Simon became a Target sponsored athlete during the winter of 2006, representing Target at many action sports competitions and community events. When he's not garnering gasps from fans below with his infamous Truck 5's, a trick where he grabs his skiis like a truck driver would a steering wheel while spinning, Simon spends his free time golfing, mountain biking and filming with several ski films. He's also become an entrepreneur, designing his own line of highly anticipated gloves.
