Sean Conway Biography

Nationally renowned garden designer and plantsman, Sean Conway combines his zest for outdoor living with his innovative style, and knowledge of horticulture to create outdoor spaces that bring great design to life.

Sean Conway has been a consultant to Target Corporation since 1998. Sean helped to create the garden lifestyle area in Target stores and garden centers by identifying new trends and products that both delight and inspire guests.  In addition to his work in stores, Conway also designed the gardens inside and out for the Target Corporation headquarters in downtown Minneapolis, Minn.

In 2004 Sean launched a collection of exclusive outdoor living products at Target called Sean Conway™ Garden Style.  The collection ranged from decorative garden ornament and tools, to large planters, small containers and seeds.  Today the line has expanded to include patio furniture, gazebos, fire pits, bistro sets and much more, with additional lines for Target Garden Centers, Target.com, and Target Pets.  “Working with the Target team has been the opportunity of a lifetime.  Identifying what guests will respond to and seeing the results in sales is unbelievably exciting," states Conway.

Conway owned and operated the acclaimed Conway's Nursery in Tiverton, RI; a retail garden center specializing in rare and hard to find plants, and noted for its beautiful display gardens. Over the years Conway's became a destination for savvy gardeners interested in cutting edge garden design and creative solutions to outdoor living, as well as a regular shopping destination for magazine editors, authors, botanical garden directors, and style conscious personalities.

Conway has been a repeat guest on Martha Stewart Living, and is a regular contributor to NBC’s Today show.  He has been featured in, and contributes to several garden and garden lifestyle magazines.  In addition to managing his design work for Target, he is also the co-executive producer and host of the television show Cultivating Life, which premieres this spring on public television stations nationwide.
