Seasonal: Back to School & Back to College 2008
Students of all ages will find this year’s necessities all at Target
MINNEAPOLIS (June 2007) — As students say goodbye to summer days, families everywhere prepare for new routines and busy schedules filled with classes, new friends and extra-curricular activities. Target® makes it easy for students of all ages to pick up the tools needed for a successful school year. From school supplies to the ever-important first-day outfit, Target is the one-stop shop for the season’s must-have products for the classroom, dorm room and everything in between.
Back-to-School Checklist
Target helps students start the school year off right with a mix of must-haves for the closet and classroom. This season’s hottest items include:
Fashion:
Layering is key this season, and the Mossimo® for Target collection provides a range of options for boys and girls. Students will find cargo shorts, polos, tees, button-down shirts, blazers and denim to create a personal style all their own. Color trends include earth tones such as moss green, slate blue and chocolate brown, as well as bolder pops of color like red and turquoise.
Building the Best Backpack:
Students can find a backpack that ref lects their personality and fill it with important learning tools such as planners, pencil cases, binders, mechanical pencils, markers and calculators. The Ultimate Backpack, a perfect pairing of style and function, features organizational components like a detachable pencil case and two compartmentalized pouches. The backpack also conveniently attaches to the Ultimate Lunch Kit which can be reused day after day, replacing the need for brown paper bags.
Technology:
Learning extends beyond the classroom with the new Nintendo DS Lite with Brain Age that offers students a fun, hands-on way to supplement schoolwork and improve basic reading and math skills. The handheld game format of the Nintendo DS Lite gaming system combined with Brain Age software enables students to exercise the mind while having fun. Another technology must-have, the USB drive, allows students easy access to homework no matter where they are. This convenient storage device keeps students’ documents saved and accessible whether in class, at the library, or at home.
Gearing Up While Giving Back — TCOE Celebrates 10th Anniversary:
In addition to providing students with back-to-school supplies, Target helps ensure schools nationwide are financially able to provide the best possible education. This year, Target celebrates the 10th anniversary of Take Charge of Education,® a school fundraising initiative that offers families, teachers and community members an easy way to give back to an eligible K–12 school of their choice nationwide. Through the program, Target donates an amount equal to one percent of participants’ REDcardSM purchases made at Target and Target.com to their designated school.
Take Charge of Education dollars are donated to participating K–12 schools twice a year, in March and September. Schools can use the unrestricted funds for anything they need from technology to books and school supplies to grants. More than 3.5 million Target guests are currently enrolled in the Take Charge of Education initiative, and since the program’s inception in 1997, more than $200 million has been donated to 108,000 participating schools.
