Keanan Duffty Biography

Keanan Duffty is a British-born musician-turned-designer. Believing that music and fashion go hand in hand, Duffty’s menswear collections are infused with innovative and patterned fabrics, rock n’ roll elements and British iconography. Duffty moved to New York in 1993 and set about designing a line of men’s clothing. Today, his collection is sold in upscale boutiques and department stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, Fred Segal, Lane Crawford Hong Kong and numerous stores in Japan. From the outset, the KD collection has earned immense coverage from the press and media. The late, great Kal Ruttenstein praised Duffty as a “designer to watch out for.” Duffty’s collections are regularly featured on Video Fashion, Full Frontal Fashion and on the cast of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

In 2002, Duffty introduced a capsule women’s wear collection, which debuted at the Gen Art Alumni show during New York Fashion Week. In 2003, Duffty won the Fashion Group
International Rising Star Award. That same year he dressed the Sex Pistols and Aerosmith for their American tours and staged a runway show using Barbie dolls.

Building on the success of the Keanan Duffty for Target collaboration for fall 2006, Duffty creates his second limited-edition menswear spring 2007 collection to be sold in select Target stores nationwide. The Keanan Duffty for Target collection consists of rock n’ roll screen-printed tees, trendy white and gray jeans as well as retro-pop cardigans and button-down shirts. The British-born designer’s clothes attract eclectic, yet high-profile, personalities such as David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins, Ozzy Osbourne, Sarah Jessica Parker, N’Sync, Martha Stewart and Alyssa Milano.
