Target Announces Richard Chai as Twelfth GO International Designer
Designer Richard Chai launches a limited-edition collection for TargetMINNEAPOLIS (July 2008) — Target is partnering with American designer Richard Chai to create the next limited-edition collection for GO International®, an innovative program designed to provide affordable fashion created by world-renowned designers. Arriving just in time for fall, Richard Chai will introduce his exclusive collection for Target on August 3, 2008 on Target.com/go and at most Target stores. The collection will be available throughout the month of August.
"Richard Chai has created a sophisticated and contemporary collection for Target," said Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target. "Richard’s keen eye for detail and design aesthetic translates beautifully into a dynamic, well-tailored collection that is chic, wearable and that women across the country will love."
After years of experience in some of the industry’s top fashion houses, Chai launched his eponymous collection to rave reviews in 2004. Utilizing old-world techniques of construction and innovative tailoring, Chai continues to set himself apart from his contemporaries. Chai’s minimalist aesthetic, fine-tuned sensibility and penchant for clean lines deliver a look that remains modern, sophisticated and quietly feminine. In 2005, Chai was honored with the annual Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award, in recognition of his emergence as a new talent in fashion design. In 2007, the designer’s achievements were further recognized as he was inducted as a member of the CFDA.
The Richard Chai for Target collection offers an assortment of exquisitely tailored separates and chic dresses, all featuring Chai’s signature craftsmanship. Graffiti rose prints and paintbrush stripes are splashed across satin dresses, georgette skirts and jersey tanks, while fine finishing and classic tailoring are displayed in the jeweled woven patchwork blouse and sateen sweetheart dresses. The collection, ranging in price from $12.99 to $79.99, includes wardrobe essentials such as structured dresses, jersey draped tees, twill shorts, skinny denim trousers and exposed front-zipper miniskirts.
Key pieces include a leather vest, colorblock front-tie dresses, graffiti rose printed cotton sundress, plaid trench coat and satin tuxedo racerback dresses. Long cardigans, corduroy Bermuda shorts and cotton twill jackets are the perfect layering pieces to transition into the fall season.
Richard Chai for Target elevates the GO International program with sophisticated separates at affordable prices, making chic designer fashion available to women everywhere.
