Simon thrives on awe-inspiring air, which he took to the books, breaking the world record quarterpipe air with 35.5 feet in 2008. His penchant for next-level amplitude has not gone unpunished. Simon has experienced broken bones and injuries that would make most walk away, but his determination and love for the sport have helped him bounce back time and again.
Simon has amassed eight ESPN X Games medals since he began competing in 2002, and he’s always after more. In addition to a stash of medals, Simon enjoys constant recognition from industry insiders and fans. He’s received acclaim for epic film parts and his contributions to the sport of Freeskiing. In 2009, Simon gave back, hosting the annual Dumont Cup which boasts a $20,000 cash purse for up-and-coming freeskiers. After growing up in the small town of Bethel, Maine, Simon was set on creating the event, which offers aspiring skiers the chance at real competition starting at a young age.
Simon became a Target sponsored athlete during the winter of 2006, representing Target at many action sports competitions and community events. When he’s not impressing fans with his infamous Truck 5’s, a trick where he grabs his skiis like a truck driver would a steering wheel while spinning, Simon spends his free time golfing, mountain biking, auto racing and filming. He’s also become an entrepreneur, designing his own line of gloves.
