Target Partners With International Food Personality Andrew Zimmern

Zimmern named SuperTarget Meal Adventure Guide

MINNEAPOLIS (April 2008) — Target is partnering with epicurean renaissance man Andrew Zimmern to serve as the new SuperTarget® Meal Adventure Guide. Zimmern will embark on a new type of journey – inspiring SuperTarget guests to develop easy, imaginative meals for their families, embracing unique flavor combinations for delicious results.

Best known for his quests to find the world’s most outlandish foods as documented through the Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods” show, Zimmern brings a wealth of diverse food knowledge to the table in his new role. As a notable chef, food writer, dining critic, blogger and television personality extraordinaire, Zimmern effuses an enthusiasm for all things food. A versatile foodie, he is passionate about unearthing unusual foods and flavor combinations and for inspiring an open-minded approach to foods of all kinds.

"As the SuperTarget Meal Adventure Guide, Andrew will show our guests how to combine the fresh, flavorful food found at SuperTarget to bring unique meals to the dinner table," says Greg Duppler, senior vice president, merchandising, Target. "With his expertise, our guests will now have the opportunity to try new recipes that they may not have thought of before."

"I couldn’t be more excited about this partnership! When I’m not dining with indigenous people in the Amazon, or exploring markets in far-away places, I have the same challenge as most American families—getting healthy, good tasting food on the dinner table in under 30 minutes. SuperTarget is a phenomenal resource, and people need not travel half-way around the world to be an adventurous diner," says Andrew Zimmern, SuperTarget meal adventure guide.

To create these inspiring ideas, SuperTarget offers Zimmern an array of unique and delicious foods from its exclusive Archer Farms brand. Created with the finest ingredients, the Archer Farms premium owned food brand offers over 2,000 delicious foods for meals and snacking. From seafood, breads, juices, kettle chips and ice cream to imported olive oil and loose leaf tea, Archer Farms offers premium foods at great values. The line also includes superb foods from around the world, such as authentic pasta and sauces from Italy and fair trade coffee among others.

Zimmern's inspiring ideas also will feature a number of fresh ingredients available at SuperTarget found within the deli, dairy, and bakery departments, as well the certified organic produce department, which is certified to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Organic standards. Guests will experience Zimmern’s inspiring ideas through tip cards found at SuperTarget stores and online at Target.com beginning in July.
