SuperTarget Debuts Two Ultimate One-stop Shopping Destinations in Nashville, Tenn.

First Nashville SuperTarget Stores Open on March 9

MINNEAPOLIS (February 29, 2008) — Target® opens the doors to its first Nashville-based SuperTarget® stores, bringing area guests two fresh, convenient and affordable shopping destinations. SuperTarget blends the best of both worlds—the trend-forward merchandise and everyday basics found at Target along with a full-service grocery and food destination—making shopping more efficient than ever.

All under one roof at great, low prices, SuperTarget offers a certified organic produce department to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Organic standards, full-service deli, in-store bakery, and a wide selection of unique grocery items that complement the fashionable merchandise found at a typical Target store. Wide, well-lit aisles, a large selection of staples, specialty items and prepared meals are just a few of the ways SuperTarget makes grocery shopping more enjoyable.

"SuperTarget provides families with a well-rounded buffet of convenient food options to meet their individual needs and preferences,” says Dr. Susan Mitchell, Target health and nutrition expert. “Household staples, gourmet dining options and better for you food offerings make it easy and affordable for guests to customize delicious meals and snacks."

Exclusive SuperTarget food brands – Archer Farms, Choxie, Wine Cube, Sutton & Dodge Steakhouse Quality Angus Beef and Market Pantry – offer the high quality, fresh and well-valued food products guests have come to expect and love from Target. SuperTarget also provides guests with a wide array of better for you food options to help guests achieve a more balanced lifestyle.

Known for its superior-quality product offerings, Archer Farms offers a variety of premium foods, fine cooking ingredients, organic food choices, European-style baked goods and frozen appetizers. From seafood, breads, juices, kettle chips and ice cream to imported olive oil and loose leaf tea, Archer Farms offers food products with innovative and unique flavor combinations. The line also includes the finest foods from around the world, such as authentic pasta and sauces from Italy and fair trade coffee among others.

In January 2008, Archer Farms became the first national proprietary food brand to eliminate added trans fats from its entire product portfolio, based on the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) definition of zero grams added trans fat. The Archer Farms collection features more than 2,000 products, which all have been formulated without adding unhealthy trans fats.

The Choxie collection at Target is crafted using the finest ingredients, including fruit, exotic spices, fragrant teas and the highest-quality cocoa, with each piece offering the promise of pure chocolate pleasure and unexpected flavors. Available at the SuperTarget in Smyrna, Target Wine Cubes offer delicious, high-quality wine without high prices, broken corks, and limited life after opening. Sutton & Dodge, a SuperTarget exclusive, delivers a full menu of perfectly marbled, premium quality Angus beef that’s naturally aged, hand trimmed and found in the best steakhouses.

And to answer the pervasive “what’s for dinner?” question, SuperTarget provides Simple Solutions to assist guests in choosing the perfect items to create marvelous meals in 30 minutes for less. In addition to food tips throughout the store, Simple Solutions tip cards, located next to produce and on Target.com/grocery, make it easy for guests to find a dish they like, shop for the ingredients and prepare the recipe at home.

The Nashville SuperTarget stores also will offer guests access to an optical center, photo processing center, pharmacy and Target Cafe restaurants such as Pizza Hut® and Starbucks®.

The first SuperTarget opened in Omaha, Neb., in 1995. On March 9, there will be 218 SuperTarget stores throughout Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Nashville-area guests can experience SuperTarget for themselves in Smyrna at 803 Industrial Blvd., and in Spring Hill at 1033 Crossing Blvd. beginning Sunday, March 9 at 8 a.m. The first 1,000 guests at each location will receive a complimentary Target reusable shopping bag filled with Archer Farms foods.
