Target House®

Funded by Target and its vendor and celebrity partner contributions, Target House is an innovative approach to long-term housing for families whose children are receiving life-saving treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. This unique facility enhances the quality of life for its residents, who benefit from the privacy of family apartments, as well as common areas that foster interaction with other Target House families.

Target House provides apartments free of charge to families of children whose treatments require that they be in Memphis for at least 90 days. This commitment is an extension of St. Jude's coverage of all patient treatment costs, including expenses not covered by insurance. Target House also allows St. Jude to focus more of its resources on life-saving research.

Target House opened in 1999 with 50 two-bedroom apartment suites and several common areas including the Tiger Woods Library, the Amy Grant Music Room, the Sergei Grinkov Garden and a PGA Tour Wives Association-sponsored playground. In November 2002, Target House opened a major expansion and now offers 96 apartment suites and additional common areas such as a family activity area equipped with computers, the Scott Hamilton Fitness Center, the Tiger Woods Performance Pavilion, the Scott Hamilton Arts and Crafts Room, and a professional day spa and meditation room.

Founded in 1962 by entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude is the leading center in the world for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other life-threatening childhood diseases. St. Jude has increased childhood cancer survival rates from 20 to 70 percent overall and freely shares its research findings with the medical community worldwide.
