Celebrity Appearances on Target’s Children Stage Encourage Love of Reading from an Early Age


What: Children of all ages and their families will gather at Target's Children Stage on the campus of UCLA for the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. The event, which is free to the public, will feature two full days of celebrity book readings and signings, live entertainment and musical performances – all to help foster children’s love for reading as a fun and recreational activity.

Who: Celebrity authors including Marlee Matlin, Julie Andrews, Henry Winkler and Aly & AJ will make their books come alive for children of all ages and the young at heart, from the larger-than-life Target "Big Red Chair," a symbol of the company's commitment to support early childhood reading. In addition, families are invited to enjoy live musical performances by popular children's groups, including The Doodlebops and Playhouse Disney's "Johnny and the Sprites."

When: Saturday, April 26, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

About: The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books—the nation's largest public literary festival—was created in 1996 by the Times to promote literacy and to bring together those who create books with the people who love to read them. The activities kick off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26th with a performance by Playhouse Disney’s "Johnny and the Sprites" on the Target Children’s Stage.
