Community Giving
Target supports the arts by funding music and dance festivals, theater events and programs to make museum attendance and special exhibitions accessible to all.
Target supports education through initiatives that focus on teachers and classrooms and early childhood reading. National programs include Take Charge of Education, a school fundraising program and the Target Field Trip Grants Program, designed to help teachers bring learning to life for students. Target also supports schools and educational organizations through local grant donations.
We know that strong communities begin with strong families and safe homes, so we're committed to funding programs that work to strengthen families. We sponsor national organizations aimed at three core areas - family violence prevention, disaster preparedness and relief and safeness - including The Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and the United Way, among others.
Volunteerism is at the heart of Target. Since we first opened our doors, Target team members, retirees, family and friends have volunteered millions of hours to community projects and have provided specialized business knowledge to our non-profit partners through a variety of unique pro bono services.
Whether helping kids with reading, making art available to all or offering emergency aid during times of crisis, Target demonstrates its commitment to serving the community by giving over $3 million a week. Since 1962, Target has supported the arts, education and social services nationally and in local communities.
