Target Baby: DwellStudio

Christiane Lemieux Biography

Christiane Lemieux revolutionized the bedding market when she launched her innovative
company Dwell Home Furnishings in 1999. Fusing modern design with luxurious details, Dwell
Home Furnishings is a fresh voice in the interiors world. Recently joining forces with Target,
Lemieux will launch DwellStudio for Target in January 2008.

Lemieux began her career in fashion working as a fabric assistant for Isaac Mizrahi and then as an assistant designer of womens woven clothing, fabric design, development and
merchandising for the Gap.

Wooed by the world of home furnishings, Lemieux took a position as Design Director with
Portico, a New York-based home company. While with the company, Lemieux fell in love with
the permanence and craftsmanship of home design. During her tenure there, Lemieux developed furniture, home accessories, gift items, bed linens and bath products for the company.

Eager to bring something new to the popular all-white linen aesthetic, Lemieux left Portico to
launch Dwell Home Furnishings. She introduced geometrics and stripes as well as modern,
abstract florals with her collection. Her unique sense of color and love of old-world details
quickly set Dwell Home Furnishings apart from other brands.

Since launching the bedding collection, Lemieux has expanded to a fuller offering of home
furnishings products, including dwelltable, dwellbaby and dwellkids. Her collections have found a celebrity following, fans include Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler, Gwen Stefani and Teri Hatcher.

A native of Ottawa, Canada, Lemieux is a graduate of Queen's University in Kingston, Canada and Parsons School of Design in New York. She resides in the New York’s Soho neighborhood with her husband and business partner Joshua Young and their two children.
